Minimally Invasive, “Keyhole” Brain Surgery

Surgery for brain tumors, skull base tumors and pituitary adenomas is a highly specialized, rapidly evolving area of neurosurgery.  At the Tulsa Brain Tumor Clinic, we combine cutting edge technology and expert skills to make surgery, less invasive and more effective.

Common approaches include the endonasal (through the nostrils), supra-orbital (through the eyebrow), retromastoid (behind the ear), and mini-pterional (in front of the ear) routes.

The goal is to maximize tumor removal and minimize manipulation of critical structures, providing effectiveness and rapid recovery while minimizing complications.

Keyhole surgery is not appropriate for all brain tumors.

Keyhole Surgical Approaches

Endonasal Endoscopic Surgery (through the nostrils)
Pituitary adenomas, craniopharyngiomas, chordomas, sinus carcinomas, olfactory neuroblastomas and midline meningiomas
Supraorbital Eyebrow Craniotomy
Meningiomas, craniopharyngiomas, and frontal or temporal gliomas and metastates.
Retromastoid Craniotomy (behind the ear)
Acoustic neuromas, and trigeminal schwannomas, meningiomas, epidermoid tumors, and cerebellar hemangioblastomas and metastases
